2010 flora expo: pavilion of dreams

The Pavilion of Dreams is probably the MUST see of all the pavilions and exhibits in the Flora Expo. Access to this pavilion is a different 'ticket' from the general entrance ticket to the entire expo. To get in to this pavilion, we needed to line up way earlier than the opening time of the actual expo, and hope that we can snag ourselves entrance tickets.

So, we started our expo adventure at 7:30am (actual expo starting time is 9am), waited in line for 2 hours in the fweezing cold, dwinking our fwozen coffee and
breakfast... and finally got our Pavilion of Dreams entrance tickets at around 9:45am. Our time slot to enter the pavilion? 4:43pm.

But it was worth the wait.

By the end of the expo, apparently, 2 hours of pre-opening lining up is not enough. I heard people actually lined up at dawn (or even earlier the night before) just to be able to get those time slots.

Just what is the Pavilion of Dreams all about? Even after my experience, I'm still scratching my head. One way to describe it is being transported to a virtual world of flowers and bees, discovering your beetle self, helping a virtual flower grow... and being in a 3D world ... just like in a dream.

2010 flora expo: (04/2011)

I still had a ticket to the flora expo, and was waiting for the last leg of the expo to use it. I figured since it's been up and running for 5 months now, the interest would have probably dwindled, and I wouldn't have to wait in long lines. Ha! I was greatly mistaken. Towards the end of its leg, the expo is still going strong. Stronger even maybe. A sea of people. Literally. Everywhere.

Waiting time was three times longer than when we went last December, and the sun was up. I don't deal well with standing in line under the sun... and so... I decided to just walk around the grounds...

Total visits have reached over 8.5 million (as of the date on the picture...). Somehow I won't be surprised if it reaches 9 million by its final day just two days after.

(I love this shot...)
